This Sunday, March 12, Willow View Church will host the African Children’s Choir in concert at both our 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services. It’s been nearly five years since we have had the privilege of seeing them in concert here due to COVID and all its accompanying protocols in America and Africa.
If you’ve never seen them in concert before, you are in store for a real blessing! For those of you who have, you know exactly what I am talking about. Robin and I had the privilege of hosting three young boys and their chaperone when they came to Willow View the last time. They were so well mannered and fun to be around that we’re hosting some choir members again this weekend. Thanks to Emily Moody, who is serving as our coordinator for all our Willow View families serving as hosts, assisting with merchandise sales and to our Congregational Care Committee that will be providing a quick lunch for the choir following the 11:00 worship service before their departure at 12:30 p.m.
The African Children’s Choir melts the hearts of audiences with their charming smiles, beautiful voices and lively African songs and dances. The “Just As I Am” tour combines traditional hymns with African cultural sounds and a stunning visual story of God’s faithfulness. Their parent organization, Music for Life, works in seven African countries – Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa – by providing education for the most vulnerable African children today to provide a brighter future for Africa tomorrow. Music for Life has helped educate over 52,000 children and impacted over 100,000 people through its relief and development programs since its inception. A love offering will be received to support their ministry. Items will be available to purchase and opportunities to sponsor children also will be presented. The choir has performed for many world dignitaries including for the late Queen Elizabeth ll last summer at her Diamond Jubilee.
This will be a great day to “introduce” your friends and family to Willow View. We expect several guests to join us this Sunday. Let’s go out of our way to make everyone feel most welcome. Be sure to set your clocks ahead one hour to “spring forward” before you go to sleep Saturday night. I'm looking forward to being with you this Sunday for a very special time.
Yours in Christ’s love,
Pastor Mark
PS: Praise God for a great answer to prayer this week. Thanks to all of you who cast your vote on Tuesday. The vast majority of voting Oklahomans voted in favor of protecting our kids by providing a more likely “weed free” childhood. Thank you for your faithfulness.
