We now have The Ten Commandments up in our Children’s rooms at Willow View (Gayle’s class already had one up in their room)! All that came by way of a suggestion by a Willow View member. As you know, I offered $10 to the first person who could stand up and recite all ten in order without looking a few Sundays ago. I had ”no takers’ in our first service but Jessy Dershem jumped up at 11:00 and recited them all using her own hand motions she learned as a child! Maybe she enjoyed a latte on the Pastor!
I asked our Administrative Assistant Emily Moody to create a Ten Commandment piece we could frame and give to our adult classes too. She has done that and we hope to get them up in all our Adult Discipleship Communities this next week. If The Church wants to make a difference in our Society for Christ, it must begin with us! Before we can seek to support putting The Ten Commandments up schools, they certainly should be taught and memorized at church. It is scripture and it represents the historical basis of all modern moral codes. Where is it found? Do you know? Check out Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 to find out!
I saw on Facebook that the Todd family challenged their daughter Taylor to learn them in order for $10. She did! I gave her, her own copy last Sunday at Church for her room! I love it when parents’ follow-through on the advice the Pastor gives on Sundays. Praise God!
It’s one thing to know them but it’s another thing to live by them. God gave us The Ten Commandments not to restrict us but to protect us. Not to spoil our freedom but to enrich it as we live for Him! Do you know The Big Ten? What if everyone knew them and lived by them. There would be no need for the Police because people wouldn’t steal, kill, lie, etc. No marriages would end because of adultery. Parents would be honored and loved; not simply tolerated or cursed by their wayward children. Life would be much more enjoyable!
God’s Word was given to bless us and to help us. Let’s allow it to do just that for each of us as we invest time reading, thinking, studying, memorizing and living by His Word!
Last Sunday was a very special Worship Service as we celebrated new members, two infant baptisms, saw patriotic videos, heard the prophetic broadcast piece by Paul Harvey, “If I were the Devil” and received Holy Communion. God is good!
Yours for a Godly America,
Pastor Mark
You looked great in your new blue Willow View T-shirts too! If you don’t have one, you can order one this Sunday. Thanks to The Schiebers and Downtown Threads for producing them for us!
