Wow! It’s been a full week already with Vacation Bible School. We’ve met every evening from 6 to 8:15 p.m. for the very first time in recent memory serving 68+ kids.
The church is decorated with an underwater adventure theme, and several great volunteers helped create it all last Sunday afternoon. Our summer children’s intern Zoe Walker and Roxi Hein and Megan Taylor as VBS coordinators, along with LynnDe Funk and over 35 other teachers and helpers made it happen.
The children are divided into several age groups with their own “Scuba” identity and slogans: Starfish, Turtles, Whales, Octopi and of course Sharks. Our theme verse for the week is Psalm 93:4- “Mightier Than the Waves of The Sea is His Love for You.” We’ve played games, learned Bible stories, sang fun songs, participated in science experiments, prayed, and of course- ate snacks! The kids are also bringing lots of canned and dry foods to donate to Shepherd’s Cupboard Food Ministry to share God’s love. VBS is a ministry of Willow View Church, so there is never a charge for anyone to participate.
Tonight is our VBS closing, and you are all welcome to come around 7:30 to hear about the week, thank our faithful volunteers and hear all our kids sing some of their favorite songs! A brief cookie and punch reception will be held in the Family Life Center right before Biden and Trump “punch” it out on national TV. (Our evening activities will be much more fun.)
Children are truly a blessing from the Lord! Many local Enid churches would love to have the kids we have worshipping with their families at Willow View. Thanks to all our parents and grandparents who love their children and bring their families faithfully to Willow View every week! We are creating a legacy of faith! This week I’ll be sharing about good parenting practices and our kids will sing one of their favorite VBS songs in worship – “Thanks God!”
See you this Sunday! Our brand-new Willow View T-shirts, supporting our missionaries, will be available to pick up this Sunday to wear next Sunday July 7 for “T-Shirt Sunday.’
Stay cool!
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Mark
Thanks to all our faithful volunteers who made VBS possible this year. Together we are stronger because the “joy of the Lord is our strength.
