It’s with great joy that I welcome to our Willow View family Pastor Scott Heusel (pronounced HI- sell). I briefly introduced and welcomed him in worship two weeks ago after our SPRC hired him to be our new youth pastor. He had the opportunity to meet some of our youth at their ice-skating event downtown over Christmas and is eager to get to know ALL of our youth and their families as soon as possible. We’re hosting a “meet and greet” this Wednesday evening, Jan. 10, at 6 p.m. in our Family Life Center for that purpose. We’ll share some snacks and have time to get to know Scott personally. He comes with outstanding youth ministry experience and is eager to serve the Lord and us at Willow View.
Here's some of Scott's personal history, so you can begin to get to know him now. He’s from Lamont, where he lives on their family farm and oversees a farming and ranching operation for some good lifelong friends. He is single with two sisters: Lori Tingley and Dianna Warrior who are married with children. So, he’s a cool uncle. Most importantly, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at 9 years old in a backyard revival at the Lamont Methodist Church.
Scott played football at Northwestern OSU in Alva and transferred to OSU and graduated with a B.S. degree in physical education/sports management. Later he became an athletic trainer for the San Diego Chargers and Padres and coached baseball in Colorado. After returning home, he felt called to become an ordained United Methodist pastor and served churches at New Horizon/Quinlan in Woodward, Tuttle, Collinsville and Aline/Cleo Springs before transferring to Trinity UMC in Arlington, Texas, where he has served most recently as the youth/sports and evangelism pastor. He was previously Lary and Roxanne Weeks' pastor, and others in our church know him as well. He supports our decision to leave the UMC, and he plans to transfer his credentials to the Global Methodist Church. He’s also a licensed drone pilot.
Be sure to make Scott feel very welcome as he joins our Willow View staff and family.
God is good! I’m most excited about Scott’s addition to our team.
“See, I am doing a new thing!” – Isaiah 43:18
Happy New Year to you and yours.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Mark
Looking forward to worshipping the Lord with you this week as I announce our new opportunity to be transformed in the next 50 days. Don’t miss it!
