We had another blessed Sunday at Willow View! Hope you were here. I missed seeing some of my favorite people. It’s so nice to be home with you. Thanks to our wonderful staff and Brian Meyer for taking loving care of you all.
We celebrated two baptisms in worship last Sunday – my first father/son baptism I can remember – Joe and Case Capra. We also welcomed four new members: Aubrey Fischer, Joe, Jade and Case Capra. Praise the Lord! I also shared with you about a close Christian brother named Russell who we were with last week along with his wife, Julie! His signature response to everything is “Praise the Lord!” When you call him on the phone that’s his initial greeting – every time. When anything goes well, or not, his response is “Praise the Lord!”
I mentioned he was given some free salt-water taffy, and he commented last time he ate taffy he lost a filling. As he began to chew, he lost another! “Praise the Lord!” He then told me, “I have no dental insurance. Praise the Lord!” His birthday was yesterday, so I called him to sing “Happy Birthday”- the only song I know by heart. He had just left the dentist’s office. Guess what he got for his birthday? Yes! A new zirconium crown! It’s almost biblical – “Crown him with many crowns” – your dentist’s favorite hymn!
I shared an incredible story with our staff this week about how praise changed the life of an alcoholic father. We’ve used the phrase, “Praise the Lord” around the office a lot this week. I’ve personally had lots of opportunities while waiting in doctor’s offices, to choose to praise the Lord. But honestly, one of my favorite flowers is “impatiens” – so apparently the Lord wants me to give them up! When we chose to praise the Lord this week, it brought a smile to our face and lifted our spirits, too.
I can’t wait to see and worship with you this Sunday! In the meantime, just keep “praising the Lord!” Psalm 150:6 reminds us “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” That includes you and me!
