Today, June 12, is the 100th day of our Pave it Forward project. On Ash Wednesday, I shared the opportunity to support a Trustees capital fund project to replace the next section of aging asphalt in our parking lot with concrete, while tithing 10% to global missions. I’m happy to report we have given more than $60,000 toward that initial goal. I also asked for 100% participation among our Willow View family, regardless of the amount given. Though we failed to reach either of those goals, we now have a good solid foundation toward our goal and most importantly, we have over $6,000 to support global missions than we had 100 days ago!
I have written notes to most of you who gave to the Pave it Forward project to express my deep appreciation for every gift and especially those who made sacrificial gifts. Our Trustees committee, capably led by Lynn Merz, will now prayerfully determine the timetable and funding options for this important project. Our Missions Team will offer suggestions for continued global ministry support.
I knew it would take all our Willow View family working together to reach our goal. Please know that you can continue to give to this project throughout the summer. We had anticipated doing the actual concrete work this fall, to lay a firmer foundation for the present and future generations of Willow View family and friends.
When we give to the Lord, He is honored and we are blessed! I trust you are learning the truth of that principle in your spiritual and financial lives. “Each person should give what he has decided to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” -II Corinthians 9:7. Thanks to each of you for giving to the Lord!
This Sunday is Father’s Day. We will recognize and honor our dads with a special treat. Be sure to express your love to your dad this weekend – if he is still living – or celebrate his memory in a unique way. We’re all brothers and sisters if we have the same Father!
