Special Sunday

Last Sunday was a special Sunday at Willow View. If you were here, you know what I mean. God showed up in the testimony of one of our youth who had been at summer camp the week before. Her name is Abbey Nall, oldest daughter of Ryan and Stacy Nall. Our Children’s Director Mandie invited Abbey to share her testimony during the children’s message. Several of our kids read scriptures about salvation and Abbey shared her story of coming to a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ. It was the most powerful moment.

I encourage you to be in worship every Sunday possible. You never know what the Lord might do, and you don’t know what you miss when you’re not here.

I told Abbey how much I appreciated her testimony of genuine life change and asked for a copy of her remarks. She has provided that and I asked permission to share it with you here.

Hi, my name is Abbey Nall. A week ago, I attended church camp at Canyon Camp. While at camp we studied the book of Peter. I met a lot of new people while I was there, and I had a great time.

I grew up knowing about Jesus but at church camp I realized there is a difference between knowing about Him and truly surrendering my life to Him. During camp, God spoke to my heart in a way I had never experienced before. I felt His love, His grace and His forgiveness, and I knew it was time to stop holding back and fully give my life to Jesus.

Making that decision has given me peace and joy that I can’t fully explain. I know I won’t be perfect and I know there will still be challenges but I also know I won’t have to face them alone. I am so thankful for everyone who has prayed for me and helped me get to this moment. I’m especially grateful for church camp, where God met me right where I was

I learned I relate to Peter because he wasn’t perfect, but he loved Jesus. He made mistakes, struggled with fear, and even failed, but Jesus never gave up on him. I know I have made mistakes too, but just like Peter, I have experienced God’s grace. Giving my life to Jesus has given me a new beginning and I want to keep following Him, trusting that He is changing me day by day.

This is what life is all about! Each of us coming to an understanding of our need for Jesus Christ to be first in our heart and life and then surrendering fully to Him and His will for our lives. It doesn’t get better than that! This is the first step in a brand-new life with Jesus. Jesus himself said, “I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly" (John 10:10b). Have you taken that step? You can today! Simply ask Jesus to forgive you and then surrender your life to Him in prayer.
