UMW The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
At Willow View there are two UMW groups. The Day Group meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in the summer and at 1:30 p.m. the rest of the year. The Faith Group meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.
The Willow View UMW emphasizes local and worldwide missions including the Enid Crisis Center, Youth and Family Services, Holsinger Group Foster Home, Habitat for Humanity, assisting local schools in collecting school supplies, the international missions of the UMW, and Church Women United. UMW meetings typically include a Bible study, fellowship, and mission studies. All women are invited to join us as we reach out in mission and service to our community and our world.
Disciple Bible Study
Disciple Bible Study is a 34-week Bible study in which participants read through 80% of the Bible. This study requires 30 minutes of Bible reading a day and a group study on Wednesday evenings at 6:00-7:30 p.m. The purpose of Disciple Bible Study is to help participants become disciples through Bible study. Contact the church office for the details of current Disciple Bible Study groups.
Other Small Groups and Bible Studies
Willow Views small group ministry continues to grow and become stronger with various womens Bible studies, Emmaus reunion groups, topical studies, and short-term groups meeting throughout the year. Contact the church office for more information on the groups currently meeting.
Missions
Its about changing lives and making a difference. The Missions Team strives to follow in the footsteps of Jesus by caring for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those in Enid, the United States, and throughout the world. We continue to grow in our support and ministry through going on short-term missions through the Oklahoma VIM.
The Mission Teams main emphasis is on the Shepherds Cupboard at Bethany United Methodist Church which is located in the heart of the most needy in Enid and runs the second largest food pantry in the state of Oklahoma, giving away almost 25,000 pounds of food each month. We provide more than 80% of the funding and bag almost 60% of the groceries given away at our sister church. We also head up many other special food and supply distributions at Bethany UMC. We distributed over 100,000 pounds of food and supplies to over 5,000 children and adults in special distributions in the summer of 2010. We continue to seek to make our world a better place by providing school supplies and backpacks to needy children, by assisting with rent and utility bills through various community organizations, and by fully participating in the United Methodist apportionment system. We are indeed changing lives and making a Christian difference in our world.
Evangelism
Its about people coming to know Jesus. The evangelism team seeks to reach new people for Jesus. Hospitality, developing friendships, and sharing our faith stories are important parts of others coming to know Jesus in a more dynamic way.
Nurture Its about becoming closer to one another. We understand many in our world are lost and lonely. Through care and nurture we strive to share with others the love of God. The Nurture Team leads Willow View in the ministries of hospital visitation, homebound community, van ministry, funeral dinners, and various other pastoral care ministries. Contact the Nurture Team Chair if you would like to be involved in any of these important ministries.
